Jang-wa (Ritual for the Deceased)
This ritual is for helping to purify negative karmic potentials for the recently deceased, helping to eliminate fears during the bardo in-between period by reminding them about voidness, and helping to activate their positive karmic potentials to attain a fortunate rebirth.
For this ceremony, please bring the name and/or a photograph of the deceased person or persons (also, any pets who have died). This will then be attached to a ritual paper, which becomes the instrument or object used for the purification. The paper carrying the name and photograph of the deceased is carefully burned.
An English/Tibetan version of the Jangwa Puja is available for download from our website. |

- Kangso (Mahakala Protector Ritual)
- Ma-mo tri-kang (Palden Lhamo Protector Ritual)
- Lu-chog choe-gin gyatso (Naga King Protector Ritual)
These three rituals are for purifying negative deeds – such as being disrespectful of the Dharma, neglecting one’s vows and spiritual commitments, or polluting the environment – and for invoking the enlightening influence of three protectors of the Dharma: Mahakala, Palden Lhamo, and the Naga King. |

In the Tibetan tradition, holy statues enshrined in monasteries are filled with precious items and blessed in a special consecration ceremony during which the ultimate awareness is invited to enter in and merge with the statues. In this way, the statue becomes a living entity capable of bestowing blessing.
Once a year, the Gyuto monks will consecrate new Buddha statues and fill them with hundreds of holy mantras. If anyone wishes to have their statues consecrated and filled with mantras inside statues, please bring them to the Center a week before the consecration day, and make sure to write your name and contact information at the back of your statues and we will contact you when they are ready to be picked up.
Service Fee. There are no fee for the consecration, but we request a small donation to cover the cost of printing the mantras and other related expenses. Any amount of donation would be greatly appreciated.
If the statue has no hole inside and never been consecrated before, it is still be consecrated. If you are going to bring your statue for the consecration, please make sure to write down you name and phone number at the back of your statues and we'll contact you once we completed the consecration. We request small donation for each statue to cover the cost of printing the mantras and other materials. |
